All great finds- I really love the slipper chair and the Thomas Pheasant chair. But my favorite is the red Chinese Chippendale by Ruthie Sommers. I would love to own that one!
ReplyDeleteHi Peak of Chic
ReplyDeleteFrom what I read Ruthie is wanting to reproduce this chair. It is so unusual to have a wing back in lattice. I love the pull on the back of the Thomas Pheasant chair.
Hardware on chairs!! I am doing cream velvet dining chairs for a client and am putting hardware pulls on the backs. So practical and so elegant.
What a post!!! Love all your finds. My favorite is the Ruthie Sommer's chair as well, but I've always had a thing for the ghost chair too!

this sort of post is why i love all of these blogs. it's such a great quick over view of great pieces. i grew up with the bikini chair as my desk chair and the womb chair (now in a deep purple) still sits in my parents living room. a great classic. but i tend to gravitate toward that great ruthe sommers' find.
ReplyDeletethanks patricia!
Hi BeachBungalow8
ReplyDeleteAren't you lucky to grow up with great design. Ruthie seems to be very current and happening right now.
Hi Girl Meets Glamour
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of the Ghost Chair also. I just noticed in this month's Domino magazine that India Hicks used two ghost chairs flanking the bookshelf in Bahama retreat.
I adore that ghost chair and have been coveting it since forever. I must say that it is the polar opposite of what Marrakech is all about, however. The Wolfe chair is fantastic, too. But that Ruthie chair....oh my (swoons in rapture).
ReplyDeleteYo have definately picked some beauts! I have a couple of Ghost chairs, so I am partial. I also love the Ruthie chair, and The BNO chair, and... I could go on.
ReplyDeleteHi maryam
ReplyDeleteThe ghost could work in Marrakesh.
I think of it as a neutral. It looks good with anything. Must talk to Ruthie and see if she is putting this chair into production.
I just phoned Ruthie and she makes these chairs any color you want and any fabric. Cost $3200.00 USD
I think it would look great in black lacquer!!!!
Hi Katie
ReplyDeleteSo far the Ruthie chair is by far the favourite....thanks for your comments.
I was chair shopping with a client today and gosh, that's not fun. I'm the only one to say it, but the slipcovered English arm is still my favorite. Nothing better to sit in and watch tv. Second choice, yes, the Sommers chair. Beautiful choices all the way around.

Hi Cote
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. The slipcovered English chair is classy & comfortable whereas the Sommers chair looks great, but I question if you can sit in it and be comfortable.
I LOVE the Ruthie Sommers chair - just like everyone else!! Would love one of these in my front window at Black & Spiro! Fantastic post!!

Hi Anna
ReplyDeleteThe Ruthie Sommers chair would fit right in at your very Chic store.
You have excellent taste.
I love the ghost chair! You really have an eye to perfection! Thanks.
