Kitchen Design

Here are two examples of kitchens designed with no overhead cabinets. This concept makes the kitchen a focal point and gives it a clean contemporary feel. The picture above has open shelves for "artful" display of dishes.

This is a kitchen I designed with no overhead cabinets. The pantry is to the left in the picture. The slab of granite behind the cooktop is like a beautiful piece of natural artwork.

  2. Well done, Patricia! I really love the look of no overhead cabinets - keeps the kitchen from looking so generic and mass-produced and makes it seem more like a "real" room.

  5. Hi Everybody
It seems that you all are liking these kitchens with no upper cabinets. I'm glad. Maybe there is a kitchen revolution underway.

  6. I agree, the beautiful piece of granite is like a piece of natural art.

So, when there are no overhead cabinets, where do people store all of their plates and cups? Is there usually a storage closet off the kitchen? I saw a picture of a kitchen on a real estate posting, and there were very few cabinets; instead, the kitchen had a large alcove to the left of the stove, with plenty of storage.

  8. Hi TTInspire
When there are no overhead cabinets, usually the dishes are stored in a pantry, or open shelves, or lower drawers.
