There is an old french adage that says:
"If you have a dollar, spend fifty cents on bread and fifty cents on flowers."

I LOVE THAT french adage.
ReplyDeleteI like being reminded that I should buy flowers with my last pennies, I couldn't agree more. And yellow tulips, my favourite!
ReplyDeleteSo true, no home without the flowers.
ReplyDeleteyellow flowers always add that touch of sunshine to any room.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a very nice room in the picture is it from a book?

How did you know that I was on my way to buy bread and now I will add flowers to my purchase!
ReplyDeletegreat Post!!!
ReplyDeletethe design is really luxury i really love it i think that design is looks great just like REve Design
and $ .35 cents on wine and cheese :)
ReplyDeleteCara Patricia,
ReplyDeleteI call this wisdom! If I had 10 dollars, I would spend it all! That is why my purse is always empty. But I enjoy my findings! Bacione, Ingrid
Great advice and so true!!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I sooo agree with that old addage! Luckily, I can steal them from the yard, though.
ReplyDeleteIf I can't afford flowers, sticks and fruit are great. A single tropical leaf can last a couple of weeks...
ReplyDeleteI love that adage...
That is a beautiful sentiment and so very, very true. Flowers bring life into ones home and the beauty and scent of a rose makes me stop and take a moment.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Beauty is necessary too!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Patricia! I heard the west coast was getting some snow, but don't know if that means Vancouver. It's pretty as a picture here (but miserably cold). :)

Love that photo! The rich wood with that yellow looks really nice together.
ReplyDeleteI love this concept.....$.50 on bread $.50 on flowers. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Patricia,
ReplyDeleteI've added you on "Follow This Blog" function at Blogger. But for some reason, it is not giving me the most recent feeds. I don't understand? It gives me feeds & updates from your 2007 posts. At the moment, my screen in showing a post on Moroccan-inspired bathrooms written in 2007...What should I do?
or should that be snails/frogs legs?
ReplyDeleteFlowers really help make a room come to life. I think art can have a similar effect and hoped to find artwork for my dining room. Yet, I couldn't afford the artwork in galleries. A designer suggested that look at the art in http://www.FramedArt-To-Go.com I purchased really cute art there, put two pieces in my dining room and am SO HAPPY with how the room looks now. Just wanted to share the information. Happy Holidays, Christy
ReplyDeleteI want to frame that adage! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas xoxo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture, lovely quote.
