I was meeting with a client recently about a new home they are building and I was discussing my philosophy of the importance in creating an environment that nurtures and supports the needs and lifestyles of the occupants. There is so much more than meets the eye when designing a home. I am reminded by what I was taught by my feng shui instructor and mentor
Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun: ‘when you enter a space it takes your body and psyche tens seconds to adjust to the space – either in a negative or a positive way.’ Our homes are living and dynamic vessels that either optimally support us, or support us in a diminished capacity. Is your home all it can be?

I share this awarness with my clients that our homes are a living entity within our conscience power to communicate with to us what is needed. Often I have stayed in a space to "listen" to what intuition is telling me a space needs to have...and honor the request...all is well.
ReplyDeletedear brilliant one,
ReplyDeleteyou are absolutely right.

I absolutely agree with that idea. I once met an architect that didn't give much importance to meeting specific client needs instead of just going for beauty. I'm not sure if all architects give this thought so much importance because it's certainly vital!
ReplyDeleteSo true and well said! looking forward to seeing you... we just had our first taste of winter, to day i will have to deal with the clean up.
ReplyDeletevery impressive blog, one i apsire to!

I'm fascinated with the psychology of a space and how it affects ones comfort level and mood. I had a client mention that she hates pale blue, because of an association from her past, and I learned the hard way that design, and the reaction to a space, is so personal and diverse that it takes a keen eye AND keen insight. It truly is an artform. Thanks for the reminder and the gorgeous blog!
ReplyDeletewhat a great quotation ‘when you enter a space it takes your body and psyche tens seconds to adjust to the space – either in a negative or a positive way.’ by Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun i like it :)
ReplyDeleteThis picture is so artistic!
ReplyDeleteThe colors match perfectly and the blurry effect makes it even better!
Why do I have to learn it the hard way. Feng shui must also be put into consideration when building a house. I learned something on your post. Nice!

ReplyDeleteIndeed the occupants needs to be one with their home or room and they should be comfortable with the design they wanted to their house.

Hi, I'm a little late to comment (and I usually never comment). But being an interior design aficionado, I have always been sensitive about the environment I'm in, which reflects on my moods and my general well being.
ReplyDeleteI find it sad and frustrating when other people just tell me they don't care where they live. How can they NOT be affected by a messy or gloomy space?
I strongly sgree with the author! On my on perspective, the place where we live reflects the personality of its occupants, a bright and energetic soul would of course fill its house with lively designs that would make his soul feel the comfort and pleasure of his lifestyle. Cool blog. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePS, you've captured a really great picture! nice photo shoot! two thumbs up
