Janus et Cie - The Ultimate Teak Umbrellas

Janus et Cie Teak Octagonal Umbrellas

Janus et Cie makes the ultimate in teak umbrellas. I am fascinated by the attention to detail and craftsmanship they put into their umbrellas. The brass pulley assembly and the leather strapping is what makes this teak umbrella a work of art. I like to refer to it as the 'Hermes' of umbrellas. How wonderful to sit under this umbrella and gaze up into the beautiful design of the interior. Janus et Cie's teak is plantation harvested and is truly an investment that will give years of pleasure.

Care and Maintenance for Teak: Teak is a wood that has traditionally been used on ships because it is strong and durable, and because of it's ability to stand up under humid conditions. Teak is one of the best woods for outdoor furniture and umbrellas because it requires little or low maintenance depending on the look you want. If teak is left untreated it will weather to a beautiful silvery gray patina, while retaining its strength and durability for many years. Weathering can be accelerated by washing the teak with a mild soap solution and the addition of a teaspoon of bleach to a gallon of water. Rinse with clean clear water. If you want to keep the natural beauty of teak, treating it with good quality teak wood care products will enable it to keeps it's characteristic golden honey golden color. If oil is applied to teak, it must be done to a perfectly clean and dry surface. Proper care and maintenance of your teak umbrella and teak furniture will enhance its beauty for years to come. Teak umbrellas? Though they're strong, aren't they bulky?

I have to tell you that I inherited one of Janue et Cie teak umbrellas and it is still as good as new after years of use. It doesn't have the leather strapping like the one in the picture.

Hi Patricia,
love this umbrellas, even when living in Scandinavia it's a blessing with one of these. The sun is immensly strong during spring and summer, I think I'm pretty much at the same latitude as Vancouver.

Have a great and hopefully sunny weekend,
Ingela

P.s. What a great house you live in.

I am in the market for a new home, and was looking at a prospect this week. The home had a lovely covered area with a fireplace, and a pool too. All of the outdoor furniture was Janus et Cie, and it was truly beautiful.

I am such a big fan of Janus et Cie. You can't even begin to understand how massive their umbrellas are until you see them in person. I took some shots at their Westweek party and posted them in March, you could fit 10-15 people under one!

That's way more impressive than our $49 Canadian Tire umbrella!!

I like the look of teak when it weathers to a silvery gray patina :-)

Yesterday we placed our patio furniture in our deck yeah! and I was wondering why they don't design half umbrellas (like half orange wedge, one side flat and one side curve) I need something like that for my patio at the studio - I love the sun but otherwise you can get attacked by the seagals(lol)
